Under $600 Laptop Buying Advice

post #1 of 6

Hey all,
I need to purchase 2 laptops in the next week or so for the express purpose of running PowerPoint presentations. The most important things to know about my needs are the following;
  • They must each cost $600 or less
  • They must be able to run PowerPoint smoothly to an external screen or projector (including audio, video and animations)
  • They must have a 14" or smaller screen
  • The lighter the better, but no more than 5.5lbs

I have found three laptops that seem to meet my requirements and would like to hear your opinions, but I'm also open to other suggestions if you have them.

Lenovo IdeaPad Z470 - $599 (Deal ends 2/2/2012)

HP dm4t - $580 (Deals end whenever they want them to)

ASUS U46E-BAL5 - $499 (refurbished)

Any advice?

And just to confuse myself even more, I found this Samsung on Amazon.

Samsung Series 3 NP300V4A-A03US - $599

Now I'm really confused. Anyone want to help me make up my scattered and feeble mind?
