1) No I do not currently own a SSD. Yes I am planning on buying one or possible more in the future.

2) Intel, Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, OCZ. Price and performance are always a factor I look at when deciding any product.

3) The last time I build a new computer from the ground up was four years ago now. I do upgrades when they are needed or when I feel it is time for something new.

4) I'm a US citizen.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
I own a 180GB Corsaur Force 3.  I plan on buying another SSD in the next couple of months.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
Brands I am considering are Corsair, Samsung, Intel, OCZ.  Price an d performance are most important to me.  I typically stick with a product that has reviewed well by others and hope it will be reliable.  So far, so good.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
I purchase a new PC every few months for others.  For me, about every 3-4 years.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?
I'm not Canadian, but the simplest answer is 127.  It depends on the order of operation though.

No do not own a ssd, unless thumb drives count.

I had not thought about a ssd, but we are building a new media pc soon. The expense may keep us away from a ssd though, not sure if it is needed for a media machine.

PC purchases seem to come in waves, with several businesses full of machines they all talk it over on the net and start to die off at the same time on purpose I am sure of it. I would say 2-3 years is normal, we do still have some DOS machines running though. Well more than some and novell netware, at least the micro mini is in storage. Does the office still using wordstar get us a bonus points ftw?

Does anyone need help into the current tech century more than me? If I had a new SSD I could lobby to build a new database server around it, using intel parts of course sad01.gif

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
Nope. I've got two notebooks with spinning HDD's. I'm planning on buying a workstation in the near future with an SSD ... if the prices drop.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
I'm only familiar with the Intel and Samsung SSDs, and thus lean towards them.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
Over 3 years.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?
I'm not a Canadian resident, but this is a very puzzling distinction. It must be that Canadians are the only ones capable of this calculation?

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

I do not own one now. I however built a brand new PC with a 128GB SSD from Crucial for my aunt and uncle. I would love to get one shortly though. I almost partitioned my main hd last night to move things around on my other 3 hard drives, but held off because I was thinking maybe I should just get a SSD and do it right.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Crucial and Intel for sure and then might also consider Corsair. Reliability is number one in my book and then price. After taking those into account then I will highly consider the speed, that's the main reason you go with an SSD anyways. I also look at the warranty though, even the best brand can have problems. Intel's 520 series with the 5 year warranty is very, very nice. I am thinking of my SSD purchase just like I was buying it for my aunt and uncle, if it goes bad I'll have to drive 35 min. to try to fix it (if can't do it remotely) and take it back to Micro Center for an exchange (got they're extended warranty exchange on the SSD and MB). Then reinstall everything from the backup image. Still takes a lot of time and hassle. Would be the same if it's yours, so that's why I'd only consider the above three at this time and the foreseeable future.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

It's typically every 2-3 years. However I do upgrade components every once in awhile, as I build them myself and for others from time to time. Going to help a friend next month or the next, he wants an SSD in his desktop so it would be nice to have already used a new Intel 520 series to tell him how great they are energetic.gif

4. Not applicable as not a Canadian. I have visited twice though.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
I do not own one ATM, but I was thinking of getting one once I get a laptop with two HDD bays.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
I would do review research prior to purchase, and would go for those with highest performance and reliability. I am not a brand fanboy.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
I would say every 2-3 years.
