Intel Cherryville SSD Giveaway - ended 20 March 2012 - Page 23

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

No, I don't currently own an SSD. I would love to purchase some in the near future, 2+ for a ridiculously fast raid 0..

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Intel SSDs are the only drives I'd consider purchasing as they are known for being especially well designed, though prohibitively expensive. From benchmarks I've read online and otherwise, Intel drives have the best performance and reliability by far, however as previously noted their price accurately reflects such characteristics.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

I rarely purchase an entire new computer, instead I purchase new components each year. I usually retain the same case and PSU, while replacing CPU, RAM, motherboard, and sometimes disk drives. The last few years I have kept my drives while waiting for a good deal on some nice SSDs. I also upgrade my video card each year.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

I live in New Orleans; the good ole USA.

1. I currently own a 120gb SSD Disk in my Clevo notebook and love it! I would love to get one (or more) for my desktop as well in the near future
2. Did not make my mind up yet on the brand. The one I have is an Intel and I love the performances, so I may go with the same brand again. Important for me are, in order of relevance: reliability and price on a par, followed by performances.. If I'd want capacity I'd get a 1Tb regular hard disk (I have 3 already)
3. Every 2-3 years
4. Not Canadian, but agree on the 127 based on operator's importance..

1) No, I currently do not own an SSD.  I just purchased a new laptop, and would love to replace my disk drive with an ssd.  Currently in the process of pricing and reading reviews of different brands

2) Intel is the front-runner while OCZ is probably second.  Important factors for me are performance and reliability.  I don't mind paying extra for quality, so price is not a deal breaker.

3) I would say once every 2 years or so.  Less if you include other devices like tablets and htpc computers.

4) 127

*crosses fingers*

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
No - but I would love to be able to put one into my next computer which should be in about a year or so.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
Since I am not currently 'shopping' brands, all are open to scrutiny at this point

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
Although I've had my current desktop for 6yrs, it hardly resembles the original Dell configuration as virtually everything except the motherboard has been upgraded at this point... that being said, I am eagerly looking forward to building my own machine as soon as finances warrant. Additionally I recent purchased an Acer netbook for portability.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?
Woo! Hoo! No silly math for me: USA! USA! USA!

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
I don't own a SSD .... yet. I sure want to buy it , it's just a budget issue...
and when I finally get it , no more crying like a baby when I sit on a bad train table that bumps all the time.....

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
I think I would defiantly want an Intel SSD base on friends recommendations , and if not than maybe a kingstone one...

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
laptop + desktop , I would say about every 2 years on average....

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

I don't get that... why do you just want Canadians to answer this? they suck in math don't they? (just kidding laughing.gif)

1. No I do not own a ssd. They were always to small to consider but now they are getting big enough to consider.

2. Ocz was the one I was considering to buy, since intel has increased in size intel is now in consideration.

3. I buy the case and continually change the internals.

4. 127 for us Canadians.

Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

•No. Not now ... I'm essentially waiting for the bugs to be rung out.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

•No. But I like the Intel brand.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

•Every 3-4 years depending on the conditions of the game I want to play. When I do build a system I buy top of the line.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
Yes. I have a 128GB OCZ Vertex2, a 64 GB Apex3, and a 64GB, 1.8" GB Samsung MMCRE64G8MPP-0VA (gen1, no trim)
Yes. I am looking to replace the Samsung

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
I am looking at a 1.8", 64 GB Kingston SSDNow V+ 180 SVP180S2/64G now on sale to replace the Samsung.
#1. It has good specs on Iops, read and write data transfer & it has trim support and aggressive garbage collection.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
I normally replace my PCs every 12 months. Usually with a one or two generation old used model with a HD that I replace with a new SSD.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?
Not Canadian.

It's some silly Canadian law. Contests must be based on skill, not luck. This is just a loophole for them.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
No SSD yet, but I will be buying an Untrabook with SSD only in a couple of weeks :-)

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

Not yet. It's on my wish list, though. I sure could find some good uses for either the 120 GB or the 240 GB.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Considering Intel, Kingtson, Crucial, in any order, really. For price and performance.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Usually replace PC every 3+ years, but there several component upgrades along the way. I don't think I would ever go more than 3 years without upgrading/adding something.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

Not Canadian, I'm American!

Good luck, everybody!

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

Nope, I haven't had the money to spend but I keep drawling over them.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

I've been looking at ADATA because of it's price.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

I usually build a new one about every 18 months.
1)Yes I own an SSD and yes I'm planning on upgrading it in the near future
2) Corsair because of their history with manufacturing RAM and their association with Micron Technology. I'm considering a 256GB or 512GB model so I can disconnect my external HD used for content.
3)I buy a new Apple notebook every 3 years or so, as upgrading them seems to make them last pretty long compared to other brands.
1) I do not currently own an SSD, and plan on purchasing one when on sale. Just missed a great deal on memoryexpress sad.gif
2) Haven't looked into it much, but I'd go for a better value over extreme over the top performance. Heard various (good/bad) comments about OCZ, good about intel, and good about corsair.
3) About every 12-18 months
4) 125 + (45/3) - 13 = 127
Q: Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

A: Yes, I currently own 1 Corsair Force GT 60GB in my gaming rig which I just bought about a month ago. Although I'd love another SSD, I'm a bit short on cash at the moment. So I guess the answer is no: I'm not planning on getting another SSD in the near future.

Q: If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

A: Well, I'm not getting another SSD in the near future. However, I can tell you this much: I chose Corsair because of their untarnished reputation as being a good computer component manufacturer. I know that their memory and power supplies are pretty much unrivalled in their reliability. I know that Corsair products are a tad pricey, but in the line of computer parts you get what you pay for.

Q: How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

A: Well, I don't really purchase new PCs as much as I do upgrade them. If you had to ask me how often I actually purchase brand new from the ground up computers, I'd say over 3 years. On the other hand, if you're asking me how often I upgrade, I'd say every 12 months or less.

Q: [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

A: The correct answer according to BEDMAS is 127, since division has priority over subtraction.

) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

ANSWER: I don't own one, but I am planning to purchase multipl SSDs in the near future for multiple laptops..

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

ANSWER: I was considering the Kingston and now the INTEL. Intel makes a compelling case. But I was also considering purchasing new laptops with SSD as part of the configuration

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

ANSWER: I buy a new PC every 6-9 months as I have a staggered rotation of inventory. We'd like to introduce SSD in our older laptops. With disk IO being the biggest bottleneck of performance, this may breathe new life into our older laptops and we can buy new every 18 months instead.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?
ANSWER: US resident
1) yes, and I am planning to purchase another one in the future because prices are dropping and they are performing better and better.
2)I'm obviously looking at the enthusiast market with brands like crucial, intel, and ocz. I'm looking for all the aspects mentioned and will obviously looking at price ultimately. I'll probably jump on a deal from slickdeals or fatwallet.
3)I purchase a new pc only about every 1 or 2 years. I'm looking to purchase a macbook air or ultrabook next.
