1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

I currently don't own one. I'm planning on building a new box this spring.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

I haven't decided yet. After watching the SSD video on Newegg, I have much more research to do. I saw that OCZ was a good brand. There are many subsets of things to look for, like what controller is on the drive and motherboard etc. Since I'll probably only use an SSD for the boot disk, I suppose performance would be a key issue.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Over three years

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

I currently do not own one, and yes I was planning on purchasing one just as soon as I got a job :-).

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

I was planning on ordering an Intel SSD because they are known for quality. I've always purchased computers with Intel processors because they are very reliable and I am hoping the SSDs have the same standards.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

I purchase a new PC about once every 3 years. I usually buy the top model so it will last 3 years without being too out of date. I just recently purchased a laptop in December so I'll be good for a while :-).

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
OCZ - price, performance, reliability, brand- personal past experience says they replace under-performing products
Intel - reliability, performance, brand.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

Just purchased 2, one internal and one external for the laptop I also just purchased.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Based on my research, I purchased an Iomega (external) and a Crucial (internal), mainly based on price and on how quickly they could be delivered (was traveling on Sunday, so needed Saturday delivery).

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Every 2 - 3 years.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

No SSDs currently but I am planning on including at least one in new builds.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Hmm, I am generally concerned with price over other factors at the moment. Intel seems to be the standard.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

2-3 years on average but multiple computers at any given time.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

No, i don't have an SSD but i want to buy one

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

i have no idea which brand and what capacity to buy. But, i will consider in order of reliability, performance, price and brand.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

In general, i prefer to upgrade hardware. If hardware upgrade is not an option for new hardware then i buy a new PC. It is 18-24 months.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

Why is this question for Canadian residents only? smile.gif I think answer is 125 + (45/3) - 13 = 127

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

I haven't researched which SSD's I would be interested in.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

I haven't purchased a new PC in at least 6 years. I only purchase parts to repair the current PC that I have.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

I do not own one now and have no time frame on getting one, when price matches value I guess.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc?

I have been considering one by Kensington due to the debates occasionally being offered on them.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Every 2-3 years

1) I don't currently own an SSD. I am planning on purchasing one in the near future as a birthday present (so not for myself)

2) I haven't looked very deeply into brands etc yet. But I would rather choose a reliable brand with small capacity vs. unreliable brand with a high capacity if I'm stuck at a price point..

3) I purchase a computers over 3 years apart.

4) 127

Thanks for the contest!

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

No, I don't own an SSD, though I have been wanting to purchase my first if only the prices would come down. But, yes, I am planning to purchase one in the near future.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Crucial and Corsair seem to be the most recognized brands. I would expect both brands to perform well. I would expect the same from Intel, but ultimately with these drives still being priced out of reach for the amount of available GB compared to standard drives. Ultimately, the price is going to be the driving factor in which to purchase and I need a large capacity drive. I wish I knew as much about SSD drives as I do normal hard drives. I am a newbie to all this and learning like everyone else. However, I do know that I want nothing more to put an SSD drive in my next Macbook Pro purchase.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

I buy a new desktop and laptop every 3 years from date of purchase. I stick with Macs, solely.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

I reside in the U.S.A.

1) I don't currently own an SSD (and never have). I've been looking at them for a while now but haven't found the one that suits my needs (mainly on the price/GB side).

2) I've taken a look at most of them and mostly considered Intel and Samsung. If I upgrade to an SSD, it'll be for speed and reliability. To be able to upgrade, it has to be affordable to me. Thus, it's a balance between these three.

3) In the last seven years, my household has seen seven PCs. Although only one of them is actually mine, I've played a major part in the decision-making process at the time of purchase.

1) Not in my personal laptop, but have one in my work laptop. Planning on upgrading my personal machine soon to one.

2) Currently looking at OCZ & Intel for price/performance, but still investigating

3) 2-3 years

1) I do not currently own any SSDs but I would like to acquire my first within the next couple of years or so (with optimism that prices will become much more reasonable).

2) At this point, I am more prone to go with Intel SSDs from reviews and feedback that I have heard about them. I have not performed a bunch of extensive research into the differences between all of the SSD makers, but Intel has been highly touted and is a rather safe bet from what I've heard. Reliability and then price would be my pinnacle factors in determining whether or not I buy any particular SSD, however.

3) On average, I purchase a new computer system every 18-24 months.

4) I am a US citizen and am afraid of being disqualified if I supply an answer to this question directed towards Canadian members... ohmy.gif
