1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
Yes. Two, one in my ps3 and one in my desktop. Yes, would like to put one in my notebook.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
I'd consider all brands, but carefully review them for quality and best value for money.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
On average every two years, with regular upgrades.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?
USA resident.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

I don't, but I plan to buy one soon.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Intel and OCZ. They have the best performance and they have offerings that fit my price bracket as well. I also trust the brand.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Unless it's a laptop, I usually upgrade my computer on the fly, part by part. So, maybe 12-18 months is an answer that fits.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

I'm not Canadian, but the answer is 125+15-13 = 127

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

- No, but have been considering a hybrid drive.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

- Considering the Seagate Momentus Series due to price/performance. For pure SSD am considering Intel, Crucial, others depending on price and performance characteristics available at the time of purchase.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

- Over 3 years

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

- If you're going to require Canadians to do math, you're going to need to extend the entry deadline beyond March.

Every 2-3 years.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

I'm not Canadian. Plus I study theoretical mathematics, not applied.

Yes. No.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
I looked at Intel and Crucial, they had good reliability ratings.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
Every 2 years.

Apple.
1. No and no.
2. I would consider all options. Price is the key factor, followed by reliability.
3. 2-3 years.
4. 125 + (45 / 3) - 13 = 127

Thanks!

1) Nope! Would love to get 2 120's or 240's in RAID0 however.

2) Crucial M4 (Good Price/Performance Ratio) or Intel 520 (Guaranteed Reliability)

3) 2-3 years-ish.

No, yes. Use one at work, but not at home yet.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
Crucial, Intel. Reliability.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Not yet.
Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future? Yes

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
Reliability is the main factor for me, followed by price.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
Major replacement is at over 3 years with minor upgrades intermittently applied.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
Yes, I own an Intel 320 series 160 GB. Yes, I am planning to purchase another SSD in the near future assuming prices go down.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
I'm considering OWC because OS X does not support TRIM and OWC's drives seem to be the most compatible with OS X, are reliable, and have excellent performance.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
In the past, I have purchased a new PC every 2-3 years, but since I have kids now, it will probably be over 3 years.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?
I'm half Canadian blooded so 43.66666666666667.

2) I would buy an Intel of course! My current SSD rocks!

3) maybe 18-24 months, but I upgrade my desktop more often

4) I live in Norway, the correct answer is 127!

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
Yes I own several SSD's and have upgraded multiple times (mainly for space). I currently run a 256gb WD in my main tower, a 80gb Intel SSD in 2 other towers. Prior I had 2x40gb Intel SSD in Raid 0 and a 256gb Samsung in an Alienware laptop.

I also plan on buying one in the near future.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
Intel due to my being pleased with their performance so far. They also have good support tools, and I've not had an issue with an Intel drive to date.

Samsung due to slightly better pricing and were also reliable. I had one shortly and had 0 issues.

Forgot about Crucial due to great reviews.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Roughly 2-3 years, with occasional upgrades along the way. I consider a "new pc" when I step into the bounds of upgrading motherboard / cpu which is only appealing to me when I achieve an overall higher FSB between all components, which generally causes me to upgrade multiple components at once. I've had my current tower for just under 2 years I do believe, so I'm due soon!

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
Yes, I own one. I put one in a cheap laptop, and it made it feel slightly more expensive. Not sure on the future. I've since taken another job and they gave me a laptop to use, and I'm not sure I'd spend my money to change this computer.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
Not considering right now. Would be based on specs, price and reviews. In that order.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
About ever three years, usually.

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?
Good thing you're only asking Canadians, as I'm an American, and we're not good with math. I'd say it was 127, though.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

Yes I plan on purchasing an SSD in the near future.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

I am considering OCZ, Intel, and Crucial as potential brands to purchase. OCZ mainly for their lower price, Intel for their reliability, and Crucial for a combination of reliability and speed. But I feel as though price has the biggest factor or price to performance ratio.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

I regularly build computers every year or so and purchase laptops every 2 years or so.

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?
Several, don't think I need to buy a new one any time too soon, content with current set up.

Desktop - Samsung 830 120GB SATA 3 (Holy shit is this thing fast <3 <3 <3)
Laptop - Intel x25-m 120GB (Fast, but not nearly as fast)
Retired - First gen OCZ Vertex 60GB and OCZ Agility 60GB in raid 0 (Faster than a spinny disk, but that's about it)

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?
Never buy an OCZ again, too many firmware issues, lost data, lost my trust.
Intel I've read mixed things, but in my personal experience, nothing but the best. Would buy again.
Samsung, holy shit balls I'd buy another 830 in a heart beat if I had the means.
Corsair, maybe
Patriot, maybe

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
I can't even recall the last time I bought "a new PC" I upgraded the cpu+mobo+ram to an i7-2700k a few months ago in the desktop, but it wasn't really a whole new PC...

On average I'm buying new computer parts every 3 months or so. Laptop is about 1.5 years old (core i3 is still pretty fast and the ram and ssd have both been upgraded)

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

I have an older version of the One Laptop Per Child laptop. Rock-solid, if minimally-featured. I'd love to replace my constantly-overheating VAIO laptop with an SSD (of any decent brand), though until the price comes down I probably won't. sad.gif But hey, if that's my biggest complaint in life, I'm pretty lucky!

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Why SSD? Low power consumption and it doesn't overheat!
At present, my primary choice would be based on price (i.e., affordable or otherwise). Beyond that, one factor I'd look for is non-proprietary hardware and software.

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
Over 3 years

4) [Canadian residents] What is 125 plus 45 divided by 3 minus 13?

Q: Why do are only Canadian residents asked the fourth question? A: Because they're better at math than we in the States are. *duck*
post #78 of 635

1) I have a 128GB OCZ 3 Sata 3 (515MB/S Write & Read). It's currently only got 10GB's left.

2) I usually look around the internet for SSD's with the highest benchmarks since I know modern SSD's are very reliable & come with great warranties. (So what's the point of looking up reliably). The problem with Intel SSD's is that they are usually near the bottom of these benchmarks.

3) Around every 12 months. Although at the moment I've had an Aspire 4820T i3 for 2 years. Currently 8GB ram, 128GB SSD. Usually plugged into a 21.5" monitor as a mobile/desktop.

4) I'm not Canadian why the test? The answer is 43.66666666666667. I'm actually British.

:-)

1) Do you currently own an SSD? Are you planning on purchasing one or more in the near future?

Yes, a few of them. Intel X-25 160GB, Samsung 60GB, Kingston 120GB.

2) If you’re planning on purchasing an SSD, which brand(s) are you considering and why (price, performance, reliability, brand, etc.)?

Will get a SSD on the upcoming upgrade for my laptop. I like intel brand. Intel 160GB is the one I'm using right now on my laptop.

My choice are: a) reliability; b) performance; c) price; d) brand

3) How often do you purchase a new PC (every 12 months or less, every 12-18 months, 18-24 months, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

About every 24 months.
1. No, I don't currently own one and I will consider buying one if the prices are lower.

2. I haven't done research on it yet as I think prices are still too high.

3. Over 3 years. I only buy a new one if it completely stops working.

4. I'm not a Canadian resident.
