Dell Inspiron 1300 won't boot after CPU upgrade

Thread Starter

Hi, i have attempted to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 1300, running an Intel Celeron 1.6ghz to an Intel Pentium m 745 1.8ghz, which having looked around on various forums before purchased I thought should work with no problem. However, with the Pentium m 745 installed, the computer won't even boot up. I have no idea why not, I have attempted to update the BIOS, but only with the old processor installed. The machine also works fine with the old processor re-installed. Can anyone help with getting it to work?

so BIOS is up to date? You might try to go with a 1.7GHz CPU instead. Also is this 1.8GHz working on another notebook?

cheers ...
