2 questions

Hello all. Have a pair of questions. I've started to make serious thinking about a good laptop. I will be buying it in like 4 months. My budget will be 1000$ max. I've been thinking. I can get a i7 quad core laptop with a mid graphics card, or a i5 with a good card. Which is better? Oh. And I need the laptop for school (later university) and not serious gaming (new games, but low-mid graphics would be just great). So. Your opinions? Ask, if you need more info.

tough question. For what you stated (school (later university) and not serious gaming ) an i7 with mid-graphic card range would be fine. Are we talking about a notebook that would keep up with you for the next 5-6 years?

cheers ...

Yep. Forgot to tell that. Would want ATLEAST 4 years.

No guarantee ... laugh4.gif some notebooks would last forever for certain owners and died painfully in early stages for others winknudge.gif

I would look into the Lenovo brand if you hang around school for a while yet. This preference is not implying that other brands are not as good.

I agree with Q. Lenovo has a good reputation for reliability.

So a 15 then. tongue.gif I really like dell's (not alienware, way too overkill) but they have kinda weak gpu's (searched benchmarks) so i don't even know. And my friend thinks that dell is not for gaming.

IdeaPad Y470p 14" or IdeaPad Y570 15.6" is what I would suggest. They have deals going on all the time and good performers

The 15.6 one is pretty good. Nice cpu, a good gpu. Heading to bed, hoping for more answers in the morning.

P.s. If it would be a good offer (i7 cpu, a gpu that could run all the new games at high at 40fps) a 17 would be good too.

Like I said, 17" with the gear can be a tough to lug around winknudge.gif

I saw a comparision between 15 and 17. The difference between them was 0.5 pound.
... was this comparison made with the batteries in? and the (larger) power adapter to lug along?

cheers ...
