4 year return - Quest 2 for a new laptop

4 years ago, I began research for a laptop to fit my needs. The forum was great, and I'm typing from the Lenovo T61 I customized at Lenovo's website back then. Happy and well made, the laptop continues on without a problem.

I'm now looking for a laptop for my partner. She is a visual and audio artist. She uses Photoshop, the big one as well as various audio software for recording.
She is also looking into graphix/web design programs to use for furthering the visual arts scope of her work.

Since my purchase four years ago, I see the duo-core processors now can be quad-core. The HD's I'm finding in macbooks is huge, but I know, with music and HQ images, will be eaten up quickly.

Size of the laptop would probably be a 17", but not less than 15". No games here, but the overall machine we are looking for must be quick, effective, and stunning in its portrayal of images.

We are looking to keep the laptop within $2800 USD and we are not attached to any specific brand. Again, the key is to meet our needs. The Lenovo fits mine, but I do not think it will do for her.

I guess that's a start.

Thanks for your time.

That is a generous budget for what your lady friend needs. No reasonable build it notebook HDD is enough for what she intends to do. Since you just go for the power work horse and the willing to pay - grab the Clevo P150HM then smile.gif

cheers ...

The budget is the "top". Preferably lower, but I like to aim high and then come down to what works in the whole picture.

I've had a chance to look at Clevo's website. I've not heard of them before. I like their look, but that can only go so far.

I have a question:

Why do you recommend Clevo when you yourself use a MacBook?

Clevo is well known in Europe and in USA via Sager (and possibly many other rebranded notebooks). I own and use a few of them myself.

Why I recommended the Clevo instead of the macbook? laugh4.gif

It was based on your remarks in OP, you coming from a Windows environment using your T61 specs as base. What is the working environment of the lady? Will she be working with clients using mostly Apple product? If that is the case then I would go further and recommending an iMac instead smile.gif

cheers ...
