RC circuit be used as clock source

Can an RC circuit be used as clock source for 8085?

I haven't looked at an 8085 spec in a long time. If I recall correctly, only if the 8085 has an internal crystal can you get away with an external RC circuit to generate a usable 32.768 khz clock.

As for providing a higher speed clock, it depends on how clean and stable you can make the clock edges. And RC circuits by themselves aren't so clean.

Okay, correction. You CAN use an RC circuit to drive the clock inputs. You must be aware that the resulting clock won't be accurate.

The 8085 is an ancient processor, and incorporated an 8227 clock generator on the chip.
