Difference between glossy & matte display screen

I had to send my Asus notebook in for warranty repair to replace the lcd display screen. The original screen is a HD 1920x1080 LED glossy backlight panel. This glossy screen is on back order and Asus is asking if they can replace it with a anti-glare (matte) panel.
Does anyone know if a anti-glare matte lcd screen will display colors as well as the glossy screen I now have? I would like to get my notebook back, but being able to display colors for photos is important. I know the matte would be none reflective which is probably good, but being able to display crisp sharp colors is more important.

The notebook is a Asus N53SV-B1 if that matters.  I sent a question back to Asus asking if the matte screen is 1920x1080 backlight panel.

Many users prefer "matte" screens, others glossy. Coming down to personal preference, try going into a store and check them out for yourself, forget about reviews and forum discussion on this subject

cheers ...

Thank you for the quick response. I do a lot of photo work, so the glossy appears to be better for that. I am going to do what you suggested and find a store where I can view both types of screens.
