I just recently received my Alienware m17x r3 from dell and when I turned it on I noticed it didn't have the video card I wanted. I ended up paying $500 for the upgrade to the Nvidia GTX 580m. A tech came and put the card in and told me the drivers would be simple to install. I deleted the previous drivers from my system, then went on support.dell.com and downloaded/installed the Nvidia drivers. After they installed I noticed there was an error message next to Nvidia 580m in the device manager and I right-clicked and hit properties and it said "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I've contacted dell about this issue many times but they never know what the heck is going on. They actually sent a technician out to my house today to replace the 580m but I still have the same error message. Could it be that the previous ATI drivers are conflicting with the new ones? Any help would be appreciated.
