Acer Aspire 5950G Keyboard keys (1,3,q,t,u,p,j,-) not working

Thread Starter

I have a Acer Aspire 5950G, I lost the "right CRTL", now its permanently not working.  After a few months 1,3,q,t,u,p,-,j,num 5 are not working...  but this is random, sometimes it works, sometimes not.  I want to try the cmos clearing procedures.  But I dont know were to find the CMOS reset..

here's my laptop.. ace5950G.jpgW020110414360949110880.jpg

Have any of you got access to a usb keyboard to see if it works...it also may be possible but unlikely that the contacts between the keyboard and the mainboard are dirty (not making contact) maybe put in wrong..Have either of these been disassembled recently???

i hv no acess to usb keyboard, n no the laptop wasnt disassembled recently

usually those key doesnt work during startup, n suddenly work if u r playing any pc game several minutes after u r ingame

is there a way to remove the bottom cover to fix it??

I dont see you model in this list ((http://tim.id.au/laptops/acer/)) but a model number close to yours should give you insight on how to remove the keyboard..I suspect from similar posts with other models with the same symptoms, that either your keyboard is done or the mainboard below it is starting to fail..However, if it is used for gaming, and doing a lot of rapid key strokes, it could be the keyboard..You could check on EBay for a replacement keyboard for that model

Just because its 3 months old, it doesnt mean the mainboard or keyboard couldnt be failing..its happened before, with other models and faulty hardware...As mentioned, thats what warranties are for...use it...
