Hello,
When booting my HP Pavilion dv7-4285dx (i5 processor) all I am getting is a white screen (the F11 & F12 key LEDs are solidly lit). I tried connecting my television to HDMI and my VGA monitor to the laptop and there is no display showing up from the laptop on either. Does this sounf like the video card? If so can it be changed or do I have to repplace the motherboard?
I found this information on HP's website (and this laptop falls into this catagory), I am not sure if this would be causing the above problem:
Intel® Chipset Design Issue May Affect Certain HP Desktop and Notebook PCs
"On January 31, 2011 Intel announced that they “discovered a design issue in a recently released support chip, the Intel 6 Series, code-named Cougar Point, and have implemented a silicon fix. In some cases, the Serial-ATA (SATA) ports within the chipsets may degrade over time, potentially affecting the performance or functionality of SATA-linked devices such as hard disk drives and DVD-drives".”
An help would be greatly appreciated.
Paul
