Lease and buy later, or buy now?

I'm looking for some opinions here.

I'm a part time school teacher that needs to get a laptop for class and such. Primary usage will be for Visual Communications courses including 3DS MAX and Premiere.

I had my mind made up on an HP ZD7000 due to the display, then Sager had to go and upgrade the display on the 8790.

With the advent of Dothan, PCIX, and DDR3 around the corner, should I check into leasing an 8790 for a year (if it's possible), then make a purchase on a system with the new lappy components, or just cut to the chase, take out a loan, and purchase the 8790 outright.

Thanks,
Rick

cut to the chase

Leasing a sager wouldnt really benefit you. The video should be more than enough for what you need and the processor is upgradeable. Should suit you well, its a powerhouse of a lappy.

i havent checked the prices for leases...but wouldnt leasing cost you about the same amount as just charging it , and paying it per month?well..maybe if you lease for 2 years anyways....

Okie-Dokie. You guys have convinced me to buy.

Now, any advice on how to get it approved through the wife?

You probably won't get it approved with the wife..best thing to do is buy her something when you order the laptop. This offset will usually keep her quiet if not make her forget about your laptop all together.

CAUTION: What you buy her needs to be of at least equal if not greater value than your own purchase or you risk appearing "cheap".

..Maybe it's time to refinance the old homestead..

hehehehe
definitely need to grease the wheel (buy something for the wife!) but i dont think it has to be the same price as your lappie!

you might also try to sell some of your existing things to make some money first....it worked for me...i just hit ebay like a madman, and made about 3/4 of the price of the laptop before i ordered....definitely helped!

hmmmm...tell her work will expense it! then just complain for the next few months how they are screwing you over and avoiding it! hehe

Show her the "sticker" for a fully decked out AW, a unit from EUROCOM, and one from PC Torque and ask which one you should buy. Then... if you currently have a laptop, give it to her as a present because you are getting a new one.

OK, thanks for the help and all.

I spoke to my better half about it and she pointed out that alimony and child support would cost much more than the interest on a short term loan .

Not being a complete idiot , I got the hint, so I'm back to saving until I get enough to purchase.

Anyone want to donate via PayPal?

Heh..that's why I got divorced. It's amazing how well a sewing room converts to a state of the art server farm....

Geez, I'd never want to be in a relationship where my wife has that much control over me...
Ahh well, good luck in your future purchase!

Nah, it's not control, it's common sense. I was kidding (mostly) about the wife's reaction. You have to realize taht I'm finally finishing payments of a loan for a failed business attempt.
It's called staying out of debt. It's actually a pretty nice feeling knowing that you don't owe anybody...including the bank.

But seriously, PayPal donations are accepted
