Hello, I got a alienware m7700 d900t

-P4 3,8GHZ

-2 gb ram

-2x hitachi 120 gb hard drive ( raid 0)

- OS (???)

I'm trying to install windows 7 home primium 32 bits in this laptop. But when I run the installation disk, and click on "custom(advance)" I don't see any driver available for installing. My hard drive is clean i gparted it befor trying to install windows 7.When i put a usb flash on a usb port it reads it but not my hard drives.

I had an idea and try to instal windows 7 on another pc with my laptop hard drives. Installation Worked perfectly. i managed to boot it and run windows 7!

Hoping everything will be fine i put back the hard drive that run windows 7 well back  into my laptop. It boot up but at the start logo of microsft it freeze a while and i get a fast blue screen and it loops.

Here the things i tryied:

- Look at bios if it see hard drives (working well)

-formated once again

- tried on raid mode

-tried on ata mode

-tried to put a usb flash to see if it reads it( it does but not hard drives)

-tried installing ubuntu(linux) in my laptop ( Works and run perfectly)

Anyone has an idea or a solution that can solve this problem?

I'm running out of ideas how to put windows 7 . Please help ty

You need to get the raid and non-raid drivers for the M7700 from Alienware, save them on either an USB or SD card. Then when you hit the custom (advanced) option it should allow you to browse the USB/SD for the driver

Thank you for your replie. It worked! I can see my driver now, I got my raid driver from ftp:/alienware.com/mobile/7700.

But now I'm getting another problem... i can format, delet, new my partion now but when i click the "next" option I get this error message

" Windows cannot be installed to Disk 5 Partition 1. (show details)"

"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information."

Reboot, and go into BIOS. Set it up as RAID, save and reboot again. F6 then browse to the raid driver.

Yep - put the disk in, start it up and press F6 after WIndows starts (from the disk). Don't forget to set the BIOS to raid first

What type of error messages and codes are you getting?

Have you tried with another hard drive? What version of OS are trying to install?

I see. You might want to try to get into BIOS set up, and turn OFF SATA or AHCI support. See if that works

laugh4.gif You don't need to duplicate posts.

How large is the size of the drive? Going XP you are pretty limited - under 120GB is the safe bet

Do you currently have 2 drives on this machine? Try partition the 160GB into 2 partitions, one for 120GB and the rest, and see.
