Wireless wizard please; Intel 4965AGN Connection problems in 5ghtz

Hi, I have a Dell Precision M6300 with a Intel 4965AGN mini card. I have no problems connecting to a 2.4 mhz and recievive a 144mpbs connection. My problem is getting connected to 5.2ghtz high speed connection. I am using a dual band wireless router, ASUS RT - N53 r and have attempted many settings and still can not get a high speed connection.

Thanks for what ever help.

The 5 Ghz band is more easily disrupted by walls and obstacles than the 2.4 Ghz band. Can you connect when you're closer to the router?

Thanks for the help, I am with in 15' of the router and in visual sight, I tend to do things in steps in a very simple manner. I also am not very happy with this new ASUS Router, the software is terrible. Seems this is a on going issue for a lot of us.

Have you tried updating firmware? I also saw something recently that said some folks with your router had connection problems when using WEP, which became fixed after switching to WPA2.

You might also want to check if you can force either the card or the router to work on a specific channel. The Intel card has a long history of no channel bonding at 2.4GHz, so if you can force it to "see" the 5GHz (or 5.2 GHz in some cases) then it will be good

cheers ...

The Firmware is up to date, already switched to WPA2.... Now ready to run with no encryption..... May be switching back to a netgear wndr3700, I am much happier with netgear workings....

Thanks for the help, that's one of the first things I tried 3 days ago. 2.4 I have had no problems, reaching a 144 transfer rate. The intel software has the software switch, no connection on 5.2..

Take a look on the router side, see if you can force it to broadcast first (as standard) in 5GHz speed - 40MHz per example?

cheers ...
