virtualization in Dell Precision M4600 i5-2520M

I am new to virtualization. I understand the concept but in looking at the cpu capabilities versus a specific laptop capabilities I am confused.

Looking at a Precision M4600. The CPU should support virtualization if I read the Intel specs correctly (Core i5 2520M) but the Dell specs on the machine I am looking at say that there is no "VPRO Technology Adv Mgmt Features".

Does Dell simply disable the virtualization in the BIOS? Am I misunderstanding the terminology?

How do they disable virtualization in one M4600 but enable it in another with the same specs?

Thanks for any info

Sounded like a Dell BIOS issue

Looking at the virtualization menu the deafult is "Enable Intel Virtualization Technology" but the "VT for Direct I/O" is being set to disabled headscratch.gif

I finally found some info that let me know I was confusing terminology.

VPRO is more than virtualization. VPRO appears to be a combined set of hardware and software capabilities that facilitate remote control of a computer for support, recovery , user assistance, theft recovery and so on.

Virtualization capability exists even if VPRO Advanced Management Features are not installed/enabled on a machine.

Thanks for your response, I appreciate the info.
