List of Compatible GPU's for M17x R1

Looking for upgrade my single 260m b/c it is going out. I think I damaged it by being stupid and OVER clocking it...lol, but that's another story. I know I can go back with dual 260m's or 280m's, but is there a list of compatible GPU's that I could go back with, Nvidia or Radeon? I know I can use 8800m gtx but it has to be dual cards, unlike the m1730 where the cards are attached and go into 1 slot only. I also find it hard to determine which card is the left/right unless it is stated in the description...really would like to get better cards that the dual 260's but if that is my best solution that is what I will go with. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, found a pair of ATI for a good price. Since my laptop came with Nvidia and it states in my BIOS that Hybrid graphics only works with Vista and Nvidia...am I going to have issues? Anyone else go from 260m or 280m to the ATI cards???

version A07 is the newest to my knowledge and it is what I currently have. Maybe revert back to an older version that may support ATI? There has to be one considering this is a Hybrid Option on m17x notebooks from the R1 to the R3. I just didnt know if my motherboard was hardwired for Nvidia b/c of this Hybrid GPU option. As I stated to you before, I wish I could do away with the option all together and only run my discrete card at all times.

Not possible by just leaving the card out?

no...and ive tried disabling my 9400 but it still doesnt make my 260m my primary. it goes to onboard graphics and auto-disables hybrid sli bc the 9400 isnt present, hence disabling my 260m in the process.

How about turning on Power Saving mode in power scheme? Or even starting the system with just the battery first, then plug in the power afterward?

i'm using bios a07 too and the hybrid option works flawlessly in windows 7.

the discrete card option will go away if you run it on battery or unplugged during startup, once you have plugged it to the socket,

you'll be able to changed it back to discrete in the bios option.

hope everything runs fine on your m17x.
