I bought this laptop a few months ago and managed to erase all the drivers. Had trouble with partitions {2 HD's} but got it goin again.

Downloaded drivers from Alien/Dell, back to square 1, I think that is when I first tryed to enable SLI with blackscreen issue.

Backup approx 1 month

So I was playing Brothers In Arms and shut down to run
an errand. When I tried to restart the laptop would not power up. Pretty sure I
turned it off, HD light would blink, Dvd Drive clicks but no loading, fans turn
on, unable to access Bios and it wouldn't power off, had to remove battery. Took
to shop for diagnosis BAD Motherboard and or CPU. Brought it home yesterday and
was messin with it. Pressing Delete and Start and F2 not sure what combo or order
but the Alienware Screen came up, pressed Delete and American Megatrends Screen that
says CMOS Checksum Bad [As before meltdown- Need to replace CMOS battery] Got
into the Bios Ended up starting to load XP Screen with scrolling timer scrolling
and then quit, sat for a few minutes then removed the battery. Unable to do it
again, tho it seems the Alie Screen shows for a fraction of a second just as the
battery discharges/dies. (This was about a month ago)

So about 2 weeks ago I thought I'd mess with it and look inside and see if somethin loose might fall out

Pressed start button and and delete like a chicken peckin and got a screen, then Bios etc, and its been working since except for

the SLI Enabling glitch And how do you update the BIOS?

Thanks

Pick up the BIOS from Dell Support Site and just run it, follow the instruction carefully.

There are talks floating out there for a 3.18

You would need to get it from your "Hive"
