It's generally cheaper, I get to pick exactly what I want, it's easy to upgrade single components at a time, and I don't get any bloatware.

Why do only the Canadians have to do arithmetic?  If this is a spam blocker, you've missed the point of a captcha.

Using standard order of operations, your expression is equal to four hundred eighty one fourths. (I'm a US citizen, however)

1) a) Prefer to build my own
I get to choose what components go into making it.

2) d) 2 – 3 years
I normally have to refresh certain components in that time, like the graphics card.

3) a) Extremely important
SSD's have a huge impact on the feel of a system, there is much less lag and wait times are basically zero, latency is much lower and you can easily get a lot more done in the same amount of time compared to a traditional hard disk drive.

Well, I *prefer* to build my own, and I do so with desktop machines, but for laptops I just haven't seen a broad enough selection of modular cases and components to do it myself with confidence, so for a laptop I buy a branded system.

2) How often do you replace or upgrade your PC?
e) 3 years or longer
I just can't justify replacing my machine more often than that.

3) How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance?
b) Pretty important
At this point, being able to boot quickly makes a machine just feel way more responsive.  In fact, a buddy of mine has a couple of SSDs in a RAID array, and I'm pretty envious....

Cheers,

    Sean
