Toshiba satellite c655 hard drive

My Toshiba satellite recently crashed and I attempted to run the recovery wizard and reinstalling windows with the setup disc that came with it. Several attempts later, some briefly successful before crashing again and now I'm pretty sure the hard drive is a goner... It's a seagate momentus 5400.6 500gb. I want to get a new hard drive to try again. Can I replace it with a momentus 120gb? Does it matter. Pretty sure its the same thing just smaller capacity right? Or wrong? I'm just trying to spend 30$ instead of 100$ just wanted to make sure. Additionally would any SATA drive work? Is that all I need to worry about here?

Yes to everything you mentioned, and stay with SATA 3 if you can (since that is what you have now) smile.gif

Thanks for the response... Got one on the way. Hope it works... Will i be able to boot from the same setup disc that came with my laptop or do I need to use like a new windows cd to install, seems like I'd use the one that came with laptop

The installation disk that came with the notebook should work

You probably can install a 2nd hard drive if you swap it with DVD drive
