Hello, i have a power problem where my unit will not turn on at all, or seems to not cahrge the battery also.

I have replaced the battery and still nothing, the laptop was rough handled recently and i am wondering if some of the poer board circuits or componants may of been damaged.

I am not really sure what i am looking for and not very experienced, could any one point me in the right direction if i was to open this up and have a look for the problem?.

Many thanks if so.

Hello, No i have not actually. When i plug it in it does light the machine up and starts off orange then after time turns to green but still no joy in turning on.

When did this happen? When was the last time you took it apart, cleaning it up and apply new thermal paste to the CPU?

Oh, i have never done any of that. I just know the laptop has had a couple of bangs lately.

Bangs? meaning Frisbee throwing type ding?

If the notebook is more than one (banging) year I would look into cleaning it up first.

Before it worked fine, now it wont turn on.

Notebooks are just too delicate for "shocks" - all I can suggest is to take the ram modules and hard drive and wireless card out, re-seating them and hopr for the best

Thanks

I use eBay for part number referencing, now and then winknudge.gif

Considering that the comp has been abused, would it be better just to get another system? That board looks expensive to me

I have decided to not bother with the motherboard exchange on this as it is too expensive. I really need to transfer what is on my harddrive to cd but how would I do this if I can not power up the laptop?

Take the hard drive out and use an external housing, or something like an USB to drive adapter. If the drive is good you should be able to access it.

GReat thanks for that, very much appreciated. I'm looking for one on ebay but not exactly sure which to get as I'm not sure what my harddrive is, can I ask a favour off any one for a link to one for sale?. Thanks.

Thank you so much for that, mine is the acer aspire 5920g laptop. Will both of them work or just one of them. Would this mean I would be able to save all documents, pictures, videos and music?

I believe that your model has a SATA drive, take it out just to be sure smile.gif

And yes. If you can access the drive (not bad drive), you'll be able to save all your personal data
