Acer 5920g Laptop power problem - Page 2

Here is a list of model disassembly instructions.. if you are attempting this for the first time , I would personally, print the step by step instructions and when removing screws,,scotch tape them to the part of the page describing their removal..that way, on reassembly, the right screws go in the right holes..some are different sizes..
http://tim.id.au/laptops/acer/ The instructions for the application of new thermal paste should come with the Arctic Silver 5..a very fine film only is needed..in this case, more is not better

I am not sure how far you have to go on that laptop to get to the processor/heatsink..Best thing, is to read thru the instructions and see what you have to take off/out in order to get to the heatsink/processor..Then when you disassemble, on take off what you need to.
Go to chapter three..unplug the unit from the wall, turn it over and take off the battery as per instructions..remove all the screws indicated in the first few steps..and remove the covers etc plus Removing the HDD Modules/ODD Module/Memory/Wireless LAN Card/VGA
Board/Thermal Module and the LCD Module as per instructions to see if you have access to the fan and the processor from the bottom.some you do and some you dont..would make life a lot easier..if you can get to the fan.get a can of canned air (pressurized and clean out the dust etc real good. use a toothpick to hold the fan blade steady while blowing as you dont want the fan to overspin..damp Qtip works good for that too...

you can read more here for other personal input. But Saugen48 said pretty much everything you need to have a successful thermal paste application

cheers ...
