Alienware notebooks with Ivy Bridge

It's official this morning. Alienware laptops, M14x, M17x, and M18x will all house Intel HM77 Chipset that support USB 3.0 as well as Ivy Bridge processors. These are the first Alienware notebooks to support Ivy Bridge, which gives users the benefit of increased battery performance will supporting the same power as its predecessor, Sandy Bridge.

Prices start at $1099 for the M14x, $1499 for the M17x, and $1999 for the M18x at Alienware.com.

Good price points to start. Dell-Alienware has a good contender in the 14X, too bad they let go the m11X

Alienware M14x R2 Review got a good 86% rating!

There is nothing to complain about the gummed surfaces and materials used either, the M14x continues to retain its "very good" overall rating.

In Alienware's online configurator, we have a choice of Intel's Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (as in our test model) or the Qualcomm / Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1202. Both adapters are MIMO capable (2x2) and allow overall data rates of up to 300 MBit/s. In addition, the newest 4.0 version of Bluetooth is on board. Arguments to spend an extra 20 Euro for the Qualcomm adapter consist of the support of 802.11A for 5GHz networks, as well as firmware optimizations to provide online gamers with faster pings to reduce lag. An integrated 3G or 4G radio is not available for the M14x.
