other than just being Gateway I mean.
The 1394 network adapter shows that it's connected at 400Mbs, even in absence of a cable. Can't repair, says failed to query TCP/IP connections. Device mgr looks ok for it, but under Other Devices are listed Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, Network Controller, PCI Modem. SM Bus Controller, Video Controller (VGA Compatible) ALL without drivers. The XP Media Center OS has been reloaded, "restored" down original configuration before the kid even let me know there was a problem.
I'd like to get inside of it, but can't even figure where the hidden screws might be. I've removed 18! They had the nerve to make them 4 or 5 different sizes, so I had to tape them on a diagram for replacement!
Enough venting... Any ideas please? Or should I just call his mom and tell her I'm bringing the thing back. It's just a friend, so she probably isn't going to want to pay for any REAL work on it...
ps Pardon if this isn't in the right thread, I looked around and didn't exactly find my issue.
