I have recently joined this site in hopes of getting some help on my laptop. I have tried to fix it myself with no progress and I am weary of trying to fix it myself now since I don't want to make any more wrong purchases.
I have an Area-61 m9750 and several weeks ago I had restarted my laptop and left the room. When I came back my screen was completely black, but my laptop was running. Since I couldn't see the screen I had to press on the power button to shut it off. I waited a bit until I know everything had stopped then turned it back on. I could hear everything load up in the background normally, but my screen was still blank.
I got on my mom's computer to see what the problem is and tried several ways to fix it. One site I saw that it could be the ram causing the problem so I did the steps for that, but still nothing.
I tried connecting my laptop to an external screen and nothing showed at all. From this test I learned from a site that it was a graphics card problem. With this information I searched online for the same graphics card, but at that time it was inavailable on Ztronics. So instead I looked up what was compatible with my laptop and found they listed several graphics cards
The first time I ordered a graphics card it had a heatsink and fan attached to the card, which I knew I didn't have, but when I told the lady on the phone she said that it was most likely hidden and that it was what I needed. When I got it my uncle told me there was no way to attach it when we opened up the back.
So i had to return it and order a different card. This time I got the nVidia 7950gtx Parent video card. Mind you, I want to fix this laptop on my own without paying more for someone else to fix my laptop for me (limited funds). So I replaced my old video card which was a nVidia Geforce 8700 GT 512MB (master)-R1 graphics card. I tried looking up online if it was alright to replace that graphics card with what I ordered, but I didn't really find a specific answer. I saw that I needed to use some kind of silver seal or whatever, but I just wanted to try out if the graphics card I got would work. Would I really need to put that seal for the graphics card to work? Also, was it alright to replace my old graphics card with the one I got. I know it's a bit of a downgrade, but I wasn't exactly sure which one to get. Since it was listed as being compatible with my laptop I thought I would try it out anyways.
If anyone is knowledgeable with what I need to do I would greatly appreciate the help. Here is a description from the invoice sheet when I bought my laptop:

Thanks in advance!
