Whoa, wait a minute! Hold the Phone!

Let's 'talk' about how you replaced the motherboard.

1) Did you follow Anti-Static Precautions? Used an ESD wrist strap, and had it's alligator clip connected to a good ground source?

Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out, (Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.

(The Processor is the MOST susceptible hardware component to Static shock)

2) Cooling fan runs fast? How did you install the Processor? Did you THOROUGHLY clean the top of the Processor, and graphics chipset, and the bottom of the two small metal plates that sit on them? (Small metal plates attached to the Cooling Tube. Slightly flattened copper tube. (Sealed on both ends, and filled with Nitrogen)

[ Use an old plastic credit card to scrape the old Thermal Paste off, or residue of the Thermal Pad you peeled off.

Then follow with Q-tips dipped in Isopropyl Alcohol.

(Rubbing alcohol. I use 91 percent. 70 percent will do, but.....

50 percent I do not recommend. That is 50 percent alcohol, and 50 percent water)

CAUTION!!

Isopropyl alcohol is EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE!

Use in a WELL ventilated area with NO sparks or flames present ]

Did you use fresh, new Thermal Paste, and Properly apply it?

(If you have a Thermal Pad on either chipset, Processor or graphics chipset, remove it, fly it at the cat.

They are J-U-N-K, and cannot be reused )

3) What is the guarantee the seller gave? Granted it's an electronic part, but there should be a return allowed if defective.

No return? Get a hold of Ebay. SOMEONE will change THEIR mind.

4) Want to save personal info that is on that harddrive? Suggest you purchase an inexpensive external enclosure, and install the harddrive in it.

The external enclosure has a USB cable. Just plug it into any working computers available USB port.

(You may have to go to My Computer, { Computer; Vista and Win7 }, and DOUBLE-click on the - Removable Drive - letter, that corresponds for the external enclosure you just plugged in )

You will also have a External harddrive now.

Hmmmm, let's see;

Acer Aspire 4820t Notebook PC; Specifications,

http://support.acer.com/us/en/acerpanam/notebook/2010/Acer/Aspire/Aspire4820T/Aspire4820Tnv.shtml

160GB/250GB/320GB/500GB/640GB/750GB, or larger hard disk drive.

Thanks Acer, that didn't tell me squat. Was looking for what type of Storage Controller is used, or internal disk interface.

It's SATA.

Harddrives are measured by their Width. A laptop harddrive is 2-1/2 inches across in width. A desktop harddrive is 3.5, or also stated as 3-1/2 inches.

So you need a 2.5 SATA external enclosure,

Just one example above.

Need additional information just post. I will come back, and respond.

joecoolvette
