Acer aspire 5670 - GPU overheating

Thread Starter

Hello, i have problem with my laptop.  The graphic card ati radeon x1600 is too hot, sometimes the laptop shuts off. Acording to me most probably is bad cooling of GPU due to damaged heatsink. The GPU heatpipe is very hot next chip – „horké“ but at the points „vlažné“ it’s quite cold so i am able to hold hand in this place and the air coming out of cooler isn't hot …BTW "chladič" means coolerwink.gif.  Whole heatsink including fan is completely cleaned by air, no dust there. Thank you much for advices and opinion.

Try different thermal paste. I would take the heatsink out and looking closely "inside" the fan housing. Ever considering about drilling some holes into the cover by the heatsink area to allow more airflow?
