I'm using HP Pavilion dv3000. I try to recover my laptop to factory setting but fail. The reason was :-

1. I cannot find my recovery manager in my laptop. I think something wrong with my laptop. recovery manager missing.

2. My recovery disc was corrupted.

3. Nothing happen when I press F11 once I switch on my laptop.

Since you got the laptop, did you install the operating system again or is this the same operating system from when you bought it..When you try to use F11, is there any message on the laptop???If so, please say the message on here word for word..

This is still using the same operating system of 32 bit. When I press F11 button, no message, the windows just start as usual as normal... the reason why I tried to recover to factory setting is the laptop run too slow and the windows cannot update for the latest update. All the update fail...

Found this on another forum: someone with the same problem..you could give it a go..

Right click on "Computer" and then go to "Manage"

In that window go to "Disc Management" in the left column.

Find your HP Recovery Partition and right click on it and mark it as "Active", ignore the warning sign and continue. Close all windows.

Shut the laptop right down and boot up, do not use restart. That should get the recovery process working.

Have the adapter plugged in when doing this.

I have not tried this and offer no guarantees, but it sounds like you have nothing to lose...I would assume if it works, you will have to go back in after it recovers and right click on the C drive to make it active or it will reboot into the recovery partition each and every time

I have try ur instruction but when I start up my laptop, theres a message come out...with blackscreen background "CANNOT FIND BOOTMGR, press crtl+alt+del to restart... " and it will come to searching again & again... So what I do now is I press F2 during start up to check the system components needed to starting the computer. Can you tell me how am I going to order recovery disc to factory setting? I think that is the only way now...
