Someone please tell me I didn't royally screw the pooch...

Okay...got an m18x R1 running RAID-0 SATA (2x750mb)...saw the possibility of (what I thought was) THREE hard drive's coexisting with the DVD and bought an SDD (~$300) to use as a Boot Drive - wanting to keep the RAID-0 for fast storage....

Opened the bloody thing and saw NO EXTRA HD BAY...

Hopefully I am deranged, hallucinating or otherwise just f-ing blind...

Someone tell me I didn't just throw $300 at Newegg again...?!?! Can I do an SSD Boot with RAID-0 Storage on this sucker!?!?

Thanks....I think :-(

PS> Note my signature is old and not representative of this rig...too upset to bother changing it...sry

Heya,

The m18xR2 has 2 SATA III and 1 SATA II + Optical (sata II) setup. The R1 has only the 2 SATA III + optical (sata II) setup. Though there is a mini-pci which some speculate an msata SSD (the tiny ones in ultra books) MIGHT fit, no one I know has actually spent money on an msata to test it yet.

I did the same thing as you - but had 3x 256gb SSDs, only to find out it had room for 2 drives. I didn't want to swap a drive into the optical bay because its only SATA II, which would handicap most new SSDs, though you could put your regular HD there for your data drive. The optical drive is a real pain in the @$$ to get to tho forewarning. Have to take the entire computer apart to get to it.
