Greetings everyone!

Im using ASUS life update and it tells me I need to update my BIOS. I currently have BIOS 201 I believe. For some reason it wont update. I gave it a though and do it manually. in addition my num-lock light do not work... I read couple of threads about this and every one says I need to update BIOS. Never done this procedure. If any one done it could you please assist me in doing so.

Thank you ahead of time

Since when did your NumLock light stop working?

BIOS update should be straightforward, just to be sure to follow the instruction crefully and using a power supply. Can you expand on "it won't update"?

cheers ...

My light stopped working couple month ago. I didnt pay to much attention to it... really no need for that for me.

It says '' the BIOS file version does not match your BIOS ROM version. '' No idea what this means.

Did you try picking up the BIOS direct and manually from ASUS Support Site?

No I did not. havent though about this. do I need to install 202 version and then 203 or I can go straight to 203?

You should be able to go straight to 203.

If this is your first BIOS update:

- Read the instruction carefully.
- Back up your personal data.
- Use power adapter.
- Be patient with the update process (drink a coffee or read a book winknudge.gif )

You can just leave it be. The hard drive should still be accessible even with a bad BIOS flash. Good luck.

I too have the G74SX and I get a notice for ASUS update that there is an update to install and it is the BIOS update..however when clicking on it , there is a warning that the BIOS file version does not match the BIOS ROM version. Click exit to exit....so I have left it alone..As for the num lock key, I dont even see one...obviously I dont use it...lol....Just a further note, while I was in the Asus updates, I noticed a recommended update there for the Nvidia Graphics driver, so thought I might as well do it..driver installed ran its course and severely screwed up the resolution...when I went to change the resolution to a higher number...the highest resolution available was 1280x960..a far cry from 1920x1080..So in order to put it back to the way it was, did a system restore to yesterday...Just noticed when I went to the Asus Member website (A link on the Asus Update Window). there is nothing there or available...Will have to try contacting them later when I have time and find out what is up with these updates

I too have that problem, when trying to flash, the BIOS 201 says I have model "G74Sx" and won't update to 202 (or 203) because the model doesn't match what it says is "G74SX" (yes, the capitalized X seems to be preventing me from updating).
