Dell Inspiron n5110 Fan Problem

Hi there, I am having a Dell Inspiron n5110 Laptop with 2nd gen i3, 3gb ram, 320gb hd, and intel 3000 HD graphics.

I purchased this system last year in October.

Recently Since 5 days My FAN is running continuosly all the time... whenever i starts my system it goes on...keep running till i shutdown my system...

Whether i am on Battery or Ac...the condition is same.

I am having all drivers up to date.

Still i don't know why i am facing this issue.

Previously.. the fan use to start whenever it was required by the system...means when i use to play games, or watch movie then the fan use to run. But now it is running always.

I searched over the internet and found a way to reset the Thermal Management System on this Forum itself. But its not working with me.. that FN+Z key way.

I called DELL Customer Care they said it is Perfectly Normal if the Fan is Running All the time...

Well I am not a heavy user,,,neither i perform a heavy multitasking session.

the fan is still ON if the System is idle...or doing nothing.

I don't know what to interpret..Should i go with it acceptinfg it as Normal or something else..

Please Guide or Advise.

Hello KumarNitish,

My name is Pradeep and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. I would like to inform you that whenever you start the computer the fan will automatically start working and this is indeed normal. However I would recommend you to flash the BIOS on your laptop. Please follow the steps to do the same:

1.Go to www.support.dell.com.
2.Click on Home User Support & click on Drivers & Downloads.
3.Enter the service tag number of your laptop (found at the bottom of your laptop on the label).
4.Select the Operating system that you are using & click on the option BIOS.
5.Download the file under the tab BIOS.

Please make sure the charging adaptor should be connected when you execute these steps

Thanks,
Dell-Pradeep S

I had the same problem, cooler work all the time and laptop overheating, do this:

press CTRL+ALT+DEL select START TASK MANAGER select on the upper menu PROCESSES and find what is using so much processor or memory and close it....usually a computer uses less then 10% CPU and 30% memory

there are some programs that uses 50% cpu or you cand get a trojan with or without antivirus
