Toshiba has announced the "Satellite U840W" - the world's first notebook with a super wide-screen 21:9.
The cinema screen measures 36.6 centimeters (14.4 inches, 1792 x 768 pixels), making it the perfect way to enjoy movies in their original format - without the usual top and bottom black bars. Built-in sound from Harman Kardon stereo speakers make this ultrabook a perfect home cinema viewing.
But even when working with Office programs the 21:9 format can bring benefits through a split-screen technology to allow office programs using a 16:9 screen, next to which, in addition, for example, a small chat program in 5:9 display.
The U840W sports an Intel 3rd Generation processor (Ivy Bridge), up to 10Gig of memory and 256 gigabytes (as SSD) or 532 gigabytes (plus HDD SSD) hard drive capacity.
Weight: starting at 1.57kg. Height: 2.08 inches.
Expect to see this in Summer 2012, price yet to be available.
