Hello Notebook Forums members! We've been very fortunate in recent months for several opportunities to win some great hardware, and we're not slowing down yet! Intel would once again love to offer our members a chance to win some hardware in exchange for providing input on their product lines.

Intel has passed on the following info about their 330 Series SSDs:

Quote:
The perfect blend of cutting edge performance, Intel quality, and value.

Ideal for price-conscious enthusiasts looking to upgrade a desktop or notebook PC, the Intel® SSD 330 Series brings SATA 6Gb/s transfer rates to the Intel® Solid-State Drive 300 Family. Offered in the most popular capacities (60GB, 120GB and 180GB), the Intel® SSD 330 Series boosts overall system performance and responsiveness for a broad range of applications.

Technology and Performance

The SATA 6Gb/s interface doubles the data transfer rate from its SATA 3Gb/s predecessor, powering the Intel® SSD 330 Series to blazing fast sequential reads up to 500MB/s to handle your most demanding applications with ease. The end result: a vastly more responsive PC with quick operating system (OS) boot and application load times, significantly out-performing a typical consumer hard disk drive (HDD).

Quality and Reliability You Can Trust

The Intel® SSD 330 Series is backed by a 3-year limited warranty and based on 25nm Multi-Level Cell (MLC) Intel® NAND Flash Memory and validated for three years of worry-free useful life. Intel® SSD 330 Series delivers the world class quality, reliability, and customer support you’ve come to expect from Intel

What is the prize? This time, we'll be giving away 2 (two) 330 Series 180GB SSDs to selected qualifying participants.

To be eligible to win, all you need to do is reply to this thread with your answers to the following questions:

1) no, i do not currently own an SSD. Im considering all brands atm, but intel and OCZ stick out at me (best reviews that i can find online).

2) price.

3) over 3 years. i tend to overbuild systems so theyll last longer than most store bought systems.

4) build my own so i know exactly what im getting and am not restricted by mfrg settings.

5) extremely. a lot of the bottlenecking im getting nowadays is from the 7200 rpm drive im using. i was considering getting a 10k drive, but the WME scores are not very much higher with 10k drives.

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

I do not have one, but seriously considered it. Intel Samsung, OCZ, Crucial, and Kingston are among some I've checked out and likely would consider.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

Price first and reliability next.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Average, every 3 years.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

Both, generally end up with a packaged system.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

I think it is an important element of the performance baseline.

Have one in my desktop, one in my MBP. OWC 6G SSD in the desktop and a OCZ Agility 3 in the MBP. Will need another one for the MicroATX rig I'm building! OCZ Agility 4 looked interesting, but I am definitely looking for bang for buck.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

Size, Price, Performance. In that order.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

About 1-2 years is roughly my turn around on PCs.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

Build for sure!

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

Having an SSD in a system is now a requirement for me. They've reached a $/GB point that the performance increase is definitely worth the sacrifice in storage space. Jam a traditional magnetic storage disk in the machine (if possible) for additional storage and rock out!

3+ years

Extremely important for primary computers

6. [Canadian residents only] What is 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4?
Not applicable.

Thanks.

1. I currently own one in my notebook but wanted to buy one for my desktop computer. I was going to buy an intel bran.

2. My biggest consideration is definitely bang for my buck. I want good write/read speeds for the right amount of money.

3. Less than a year

4. I prefer to build.

5. The disk is definitely an important part of my pc. I am still running hdd and it is holding back my system.

6. I'm in the USA

1.  Yes, and Intel, a Crucial, and an OCZ.  Near future purchase:  Patriot or Samsung.

2.  Price and performance as well as warranty.  Brand is important in that reputation of products and customer service are very important.

3.  Every 1-2 years.

4.  I build my PCs, buy branded laptops.

5.  Pretty important, it certainly is one of the major factors in system performance.

6.  I refuse to answer this unless it is asked in French ;)
