1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

Yes, I own several SSD's, and yes I am planning on buying more in the future. I am considering Crucial and Intel.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

Reliability over the long run.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Every three years or more.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

I prefer to buy branded systems.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

I feel an SSD is extremely important for system performance as traditional hard drives bottleneck the operating system.

1. I do not currently own an SSD but am actively considering one either as a booster for a current system or for a new system. The top 3 brands I would consider are Intel, OCZ and Crucial.
2. Selection criteria would be capacity, performance, price in that order.
3. I purchase or build a new PC approximately every three years.
4. I prefer to build my own systems to allow for a more tailored selection of components for the purpose. Last system was built for video editing with i7-920 CPU, 12 GB RAM, 300 GB 10K WD Raptor OS/Cache HD, 4 x 1 TB data HDs, 1 TB hot-swap backup HD, GTX-275 video. Would now consider SSD to replace Raptor system HD.
5. SSD would provide reduced system bootup and application load times and enhanced data caching.
6. Don't you think that US residents know how to do math? Depending on order of operations the result can range from 21 (((110 + 15) / 5) -4) to 125 (110 + (15 / (5-4))), but since no groupings are indicated, the mathematical order of precedence would yield an answer of 109 (110 + (15 / 5) - 4).

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?
Yes, I designed my latest build with an Intel SSD as my boot drive. I will evaluate the performance/size:cost index within the near future for a new build. I take whatever is on the market and evaluate cost:performance data.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?
I look at the cost per GB to a point of reasonable investment cost (in considering reasonable time before failure) and then factor in the specific performance benchmarks in order to ascertain my choice.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
Historically, I build a new computer every one to two years, depending upon factors such as hardware failure or limitations based on evolving technology.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?
For use within my household I build, for gifts, e.g., relatives, that I take pity upon their ancient systems I tend to buy a branded system due to the fact that they are geographically detached and need support that I cannot provide hands-on.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)
I must admit that I was less than floored with the SSD drive that I installed in my newest build. Considering that I maxed my ASUS board on high-performance RAM, upgraded the video card/board, and kept the startup menu sparse, my Windows 7 Ultimate-based system gets to my desktop with less-than-awe-inspiring rapidity. Take into consideration that my SSD is probably 2 years old with performance typical for that 'era'.

Over 3 years.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

Build my own.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

Extremely important.

I don't currently own an SSD and don't plan on purchasing one in the near future.

Performance and reliability are the features I look for but the purchase is generally withheld due to price.

1-2 years

I prefer to build my own but with notebooks that isn't as easy as with desktops.

It's pretty important when doing read/write operations. I expect the system to feel pretty fast compared to an HDD (specially 5,400 RPM).

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

I already own a Crucial M 128 SSD

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)? Most important is a balance of price, performance and reliability

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Over 3 years because I constantly make upgrades.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

Build desktops, buy laptops.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

Now that I have one I think they offer a terrific boost in performance over traditions hard drives.

6. [Canadian residents only] What is 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4? Not Canadian but I was born across the river from Ontario.

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?
I recently purchased a 120GB OCZ SSD but haven't installed it yet.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?
Price and performance.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
I generally go thru a major rebuild every 3-4 years. In between I upgrade components only if there's a major drop in price.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?
I prefer to build my desktop system and purchase laptops.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)
Very important. If it were just a marginal performance boost, then I wouldn't be looking at SSD.

6. [Canadian residents only] What is 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4?
I'm not Canadian, but I've been there fishing and they have some feisty northerns. I think the biggest one I caught was 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4 pounds.

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)? No, do not currently own an SSD. Would review and consider all of the above

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)? Peformance, then price

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)? every 3-4 years

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)? Have done both

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance) with better quality, it will become more and more important for system performance.
1. Currently have a Crucial M4 120GB in my desktop.

2. Most important factor is reliability. I don't want to buy an SSD just to have it crap out in 6 months.

3. I don't really purchase a new pc but more gradually upgrade the one I got. I'll buy a new component every year or two to give it a new lease on life. I probably build a new system from scratch every 4-5 years.

4. I totally prefer to build my own. Knowing exactly whats in my machine is important to me so I know what needs upgrading when my system starts performing poorly. I can also make sure that it's all quality parts and that nothing gets skimped on.

5 I think an SSD is extremely important for any computer these days. Disk access is bar far the biggest bottle neck in any system. Speeding that up will breath new life into just about any system.

6. N/A (sounds like a tough question anyways).
