1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

I just purchased an Intel 330 180GB SSD and have been seriously considering purchasing a second for redundancy, since my notebook has 2 HDD slots. I would most definitely purchase another Intel 330 180GB SSD.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

All of it matters. I did detailed research into price to performance/size ratio, and brand reputation for reliability. Intel has #1 reputation for reliability so I am sticking with Intel 320 SSDs since they are the best balance of all things to consider.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Every 3-5 years, and I usually migrate parts from the old PC if still working like the HDDs, optical drives, and PSU. (I buy PSUs with enough power and efficiency with future upgrades in mind)

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

Buying a branded PC tower is a crime to myself. I would never purchase a branded prebuilt tower. I will purchase a name brand notebook, but almost always a custom built one.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

Extremely by magnitudes! I don't just feel this way, my computer proves this point in it's performance.

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

no, i do not own one, yes i do plan on getting one, and it is (interestingly) an Intel SSD [though it's not as nice as this one  :) ].

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

performance. isn't that the purpose of buying an SSD?

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

i don't typically purchase them. i build them. for myself, AND for others.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

build my own (see 3's answer).

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

pretty important, since the hard drive is almost always the slowest part of any computer...

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

I have a few 120GB OCZ VERTEX 2 SSDs and just ordered a Samsung 830 256GB as well. The only brands I consider are Intel, OCZ and Samsung - all because they have capability to repair firmware issues in-house.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

Performance, brand and price in that order.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Including laptops and desktops for the family it ends up being about once a year.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

Desktop: I have built my own for 20 years.
Laptop: Really hard to build your own so I buy branded systems there.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

Extremely important. I could not believe the difference in my desktop when I put in my first SSD. So when I got a new laptop I had to put one in there as well.

1) I currently have an Intel 120 GB SSD as my primary HD.

2) All things being equal, performance is most important to me, followed by price. If the best performance is only available at a much higher price, I will go with less performance for lower price.

3) I rarely replace my PC, but do frequent upgrades. Will probably replace current PC within 2 years.

4) I always build my own.

5) I was amazed at the difference when I switched to an SSD. I would have to rate it extremely important.

6) Fortunately, I am not Canadian, as my math skills suck!
1. Currently own OCZ Vertex 2 and OCZ Petrol. Would purchase Intel for reliability and OCZ for value.

2. Price > Brand (Warranty, RMA, reputation) > Performance

3. 2-3 years

4. Build my own

5. Pretty important

6. 21 or 109. Should specify BEDMAS or written order.

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

I don't currently own a SSD drive, but I want to purchase one. I'd consider any of the brands mentioned in the question above.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

Reliability, performance, then price.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

2-3 yrs, but system upgrades can take anytime they're needed.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

I prefer to custom build my own PCs.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

It is very important as it speeds up the boot times and the system seems to be faster overall with a SSD drive in it.
