4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?
For desktops, always build

1. Nope, don't own one currently.  I don't plan on buying one until my next build - which should be in approximately 13 months.

2. Reliability/Warranty support and price to performance ratio are the primary considerations.

3. I never purchase a new PC.  I build them.  I do, about every 4 years, buy a new lappy though.

4. I prefer to build my computers.  Prebuild systems don't have the reliability that I require.

5. Extremely Important - but not wholly necessary yet.

6. USA, baby!

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?
- I do not own one now, and I am considering purchasing one, assuming I can afford to. Primarily I'm looking at OCZ at the moment, though Seagate's hybrids have my attention as well for certain uses.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?
- Primarily price, though write cycles before failure is always a concern. That alone is much of why I consider OCZ before others.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
- Over 3 years, though I'm generally upgrading my computer sporadically through that time.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?
- With desktops, I always build my own. Laptops I rarely have that option with. Branded systems contain hardware not supported on my OS of choice far too often, among other reasons.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)
- It depends entirely on application. For a standard user, not very important. In the hands of someone who can or must tailor their uses, especially linux users, an SSD can be extremely effective when used alongside a standard HDD and potentially a ramdisk.

6. [Canadian residents only] What is 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4?
US resident, not relevant.

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

I would love to own a SSD for the sole reason of speed but its hard to justify the cost for speed alone when you have the luxury of size with a little slower drive. The moment i run out of space on my drive i wish i had gone with a 2 TB drive rather than save a couple of bucks and get a 1 TB drive. . Now if you use your SSD as your master drive and had your slower but larger drive as a slave thats how you could have the best of both worlds. Slower to copy to larger drives but performance would still be strong.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

Price, Size, and MOST importantly reliability. Price, speed, size and brand mean nothing if its going to crash every 3 weeks. The bad thing about SSD drives is that their is not a ton of recoverability if there is an electronic failure so those components must be sound and reliable.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

For Home Over 3 years but My work computer is upgraded every 2 - 3 years

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

Performance wise i like to build my own but cost wise branded is better these days.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)
Extremely Important for heavy days in my line of work but the general public they wouldn't notice the difference.

6. [Canadian residents only] What is 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4?
USA born and bred!

1) No, yes, not sure.

2) Performance, size.

3) 2-3 years, but I am upgrading components at least twice a year.

4) Both. Buy laptops, build my own HTPCs.

5) Very important.

6) N/A

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)? I do not currently own an SSD but would REALLY love one! I would consider any/all brands.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)? The most important consideration is a combination of price and performance, or bang for the buck. I would prefer to go with a name-brand product, Warranty is also a consideration in my shopping.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)? Every 2-3 years.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)? Typically a branded system, but I would certainly consider a build-my-own in the future.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance). From what I've read, the SSD is a great way to increase system performance. Would love to try it ... I'll be happy to report back smile.gif

Thanks for the chance to win!
