applying algebra rules 110 + 15/5 -4 = 109 wink.gif

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

I currently own a hybrid drive. 8gb of solid state in a Samsung series 7.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?
Reliability, as it appears to be an issue with most ssd I have looked into.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
over 3 years. I just do minor upgrades from time to time.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?
Always build my own.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)
It is extremely important . The abilities of current hardware go to waste with such a huge choke point of HDDs.

6. [Canadian residents only] What is 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4?

I'm not canadian. Not mandated math for me. The answer is "Q" by the way.

well I just had a osz sad drive fail, no reason other than its unstable technology for data integrity I like sad for the spped but I will never trust it as a data storage device rather it is good for access speed..IE for OS and large file editing and access...but mirror the sad so its fast but reliable..
I lost only a days worth of data....now all sad are mirrored to spinning drives...I can't send the drive in for testing as it had unencrypted company data and IP data....I think I'm done with osz....maybe bad one but can't risk that kind of loss...

I own an OCZ SSD at the moment. I'm considering another one in the future, Samsung or Intel.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

Right now price is the biggest concern although performance is close behind.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

Totally new PC usually every 5 years but I upgrade in between.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

Build my own.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

Pretty important. It's taking away the slowest point in most systems.

6. I'm in the US.

1. I have a intel hybrid in my latest laptop, and will probably get an intel when I get a new desktop.
2. Performance is most important to me.
3. I purchase a new PC about once every 3 years.
4. Not skilled enough to build my own, my last two laptops have been Sager, very pleased with them.
5. The laptops performance thus far impresses me, but I really don't have enough experience yet
to judge.

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?
I was considering the Samsung 830, 256GB, since my laptop is limited to 7mm drives, or the Crucial M4 256GB, or the Intel 320 Series, I don't currently own a SSD.
2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?
The most important consideration always comes down to price, and next to that is reliability.
3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?
I purchase a new PC every 2 years, I'm waiting for the T430s to arrive in the mail :).
4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?
I always build my own PCs, for laptops obviously it's branded.
5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)
It is pretty important, but is not a complete necessity.
6. [Canadian residents only] What is 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4?
109

1. Do you currently own an SSD and are you planning on purchasing one in the near future? If so, which brands are you considering (Intel, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Patriot Memory, Samsung, or other)?

No, I do not. However, I was shortlisting Intel, OCZ, Corsair, and Samsung, looking for a good deal.

2. What is the most important consideration you make when you purchase an SSD (price, performance, brand, other)?

Since I heard so many horror stories of SSD suddenly dying, brand and the reliability associated with it are my most important consideration. Performance & price are the next set of considerations.

3. How often do you purchase a new PC (less than a 1 year, 1-2 years, 2-3 years, over 3 years)?

My wife got me a new one this year; I usually try to keep a PC around for 3-4 years.

4. Do you prefer to build your own PC or buy a branded system (Build your own or Buy a branded system)?

I buy branded system...I would love to build mine, but I simply do not have the time, being a father of 2 very active young boys.

5. How important do you feel an SSD is to system performance? (extremely important, pretty important, Not very important, no impact on performance)

This is probably the most important one, period. The bottleneck posed by storage medium is considerable. With SSD, that goes away =)

6. [Canadian residents only] What is 110 plus 15 divided by 5 minus 4?

Sigh...I am a Canadian...why oh why must we do these things, eh? The question is 110+15/5-4. So the answer is 109.
