Dell1525 Mic problem?

Hi everyone:
My friend send me his Dell Inspiron 1525 with xp sp3 pro, he told me that the microphone recording is not work I have try for 2 days and format it 3 times and uninstalling the audio devices many times and reinstall it from Dell Driver download but still microphone recording not working and window record is not working without headphone and skype is not detect microphone.
any idea please?

microsoft kb888111 - might have something to do with it

Try go back to SP2, then download and install KB888111 patch from Microsoft, see if the issue can be resolved
