I use Spotify and Itunes to listen to music. A couple of days ago, I started noticing some distortion from songs on Spotify. The distortion happens when I have headphones plugged in. If I unplug the headphones, the computer speakers work fine and the songs are not distorted. I thought this was a Spotify issue, but when I checked iTunes, I'm having the same problem.
Also, not my computer speakers work, but occasionally the sound will stop. I click on the speaker button on the taskbar, click on the mute button, then unclick mute button and sounds is back.
I called Toshiba customer support. My laptop is still under warranty but the phone service expired. They told me this is a software issue and it costs $49.99 for the to tell me what the software issue is. I'm pretty P'O'd about this. My laptop is still under warranty and I feel they should help me if they already know the cause.
I was hoping that someone here has the same problem or can tell me how to fix. Also, I did a Windows update it seems like the same day the distortion started, but I'm not positive. I restored my computer to the day before the windows update thinking this would help, but it didn't. So I reinstalled windows update.
I also tried updating the Conexant CX20671 driver and it says the driver is up to date. The driver is version # 18.104.22.168.
Here is my computer info:
Toshiba Satellite C655-S5128
Purchased September 2011.
If any other info is needed, please me know. I'd appreciate any help you can offer.
