I went to turn my notebook on today and I get nothing.  All the indicator lights are on and there is a blinking cursor on the screen, but it won't boot up.  Does anyone know what might be the problem?

Hi tcat,

My name is George I work for Social Media and Community Outreach Team at DELL ,

With regards to your concern mention below are few steps to help you in resolving this problem .

  • Check if there is any external device connected to your system or a CD in the CD drive ,please remove and restart.
  • Confirm HDD is recognized in BIOS,

how to : when restarting the system tap F2 at the Dell Logo . Next screen that you see is the system set up screen .look for Primary Hard Drive and Size .

If detected it would mention the size of the HDD ,if not :NONE .

  • If Hard drive is not detected it’s a Hard drive issue .If detected it would be a software issue .
  • Please update us with Operating system so that we can go ahead with further assistance

Regards

George-P

Remove battery and power adapter. Hold down the power button for about 40secs and then retry. Try also swapping out the ram modules .

cheers ...
