Acer Aspire 5755g Fan not speeding up on load, causes overheating

Hello,

I am having a problem with the cooling on this laptop, I'm on windows Ultimate 64bit sp1 and the fan keeps running at the same speeds.

Windows was installed a few days ago and just came back from the acer repair due to the fans being blocked and not spinning, they cleaned it up and their testruns were a succes according to them.

Now I  was busy installing apps on newly installed windows and the temps rise to 80/95 degrees only by doing that, i tested an fast to download game like minecraft and temps raised to almost 100c so I closed it...turbo boost kicked in during those events to 3,00ghz which I now have turned off and multiplier is set to 20 (2,00ghz) and even that makes it go to 80/90 while doing minor tasks like installing apps or browsing

so the fans have been tested by acer and they gave it back to me, this is a clean installed win7 with none of the acer apps on it, and I read on multiple forums from last year ago that ePower Management was the thing that controls the fan speed, im on ultimate and it doesn't seem to be compatible

Other games tested was TF2 and with the throttlestop settings it hung at 90/98c degrees, the fan still spinning at only one speed, my bios of the acer 5755g is 1.15.

To sum it up:

- aspire 5755's fan is not reacting to changes in computing tasks, when on load it still spins at idle speeds(?) causes temps to rise to 100 which would make it auto shutdown

- im on win7 ultimate sp1 and ePower isn't compatible with it it seems, the drivers were meant for home premium x64 so downgrading would work?

- even at boot the fan spins normally as if it's not hot at all

I'm clueless here, and the reason I sent it to acer was because the fan started spinning way too hard while possible dust blocking it, causing speeds to throttle down and games/apps running slow until it auto shutdown and the fan stopped at next boot. they gave it back to me but the 1 speed only fan problem still exists.

specs:

CPU
Intel Core i5 2430M 2,4GHZ up to 3,00 ghz turbo
RAM
8 GB
HDD
750 GB
GPU
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2 gig video memory

Help with this would be very kind.

EDIT: Now running at multiplier 20, turbo boost disabled, temps hanging at 66c, max was 86c with light cpu tasks, no games or video editing etc.

That might be the only solution yes :(...

It's best that I prepare it for UPS then

Thank you for the reply.

To me, if the fan is clean, they may NOT have cleaned in between the heatsink and fan and when replace the heatsink, if they have taken it off, have they replaced the thermal compound and tightened the heatsink screws down enough and more importantly - evenly? Also check you have the correct charger, the end socket may be right, the voltage may be right, but if the amperage is lower, ie using a 3.42A with a laptop rated to 3.95A as an example, you can experience this issue...

Hi, i'm new to the forum (not really a computer genius) well here i go,

i currently own an Acer 5755G

Specs are :

-i7-2670qm 2.2 ghz (3.1 in turbo boost)

-Nvidia GT 540m 2gb dedicated ram.

-8gb ram

-750gb hdd

now whenever i use any program or a few are open it starts overheating like crazy i can litterally smell as if something is burning.

whenever i play any games (even minecraft) or even command and conquer 3 this motherfucker overheats like crazy ,even though it's supposed to bre able top lay such games witout any problems but well mine does have alot of problems. so i wonder if i have to send it back for checking and repair or should i first see if i can fixit on my own... well my first guess is that the gpu fan doesn't work properly. can any one fill me in on something i could do or if i should send it back. also if you need any info i 'll happily give it to you.

Update: Turns out the heatsink needed to be replaced and they did so, Acer sent it back to me and temps were normal BUT they in the repair report it said they also updated the bios,

they updated the laptop with the wrong bios model (5750g instead of 5755g bios) that caused the AC charger to not be detected anymore and would cause beeps while in the bios(where I saw it had a the model number 5750 written on it) until the battery ran out of energy...

I've sent it back once again right before the weekend so I will get it back on tuesday or wednesday hopefully...

If the temps reach 80/90c while gaming then it's like it did with mine when I played games, it starts to become a problem if the fan breaks meaning it will spin slow or something else and the temps will go above 90c and slowly to 100, so if you don't hear the fan spinning loud while gaming it's best to sent it back to Acer and tell in the notes to replace the cooling/heatsink completely(they didn't do it the first for me because I did not describe the problem that well)

I also bought a laptop cooler which may or may not help with the temps but I will see when I get mine back
