Help, M9700 wont start up, amber light lit on lid (not alien head), green light lit on power adapter

Thread Starter

I am trying to get my aurora m9700 laptop going again.

The amber light on the light strip on the lid stays lit when plugged in. The light on the power adapter is green and stays green when plugged in. I get nothing when push the power button.

Originally before it went down I could not get a picture on the screen. I could shine a light into the lcd and see the letters and when i plugged in an external monitor it worked fine.

Now nothing. I am a pretty technical person and have tested the memory, tried one video card at a time with both video cards, reseated the cpu, cleaned it out well, tried one hard drive at a time and nothing.

Any help would be appreciated. Is this a capacitor?

How did you test the video cards?

I tried hooking both up, swapping slots, one at a time in each slot. I doubt both cards went out at the same time although I suppose it can happen. I do not have any extra cards to try.

Thanks again for replying to my thread!

The symptom is very much of a dead board, dead CPU or dead GPU. That's the area I would look into.

cheers ...
