I usually don't go much into exploding mobile devices since I tend to accept it that it can happen, regardless of manufacturers. Only when it is rampant then it might be news worthy.
"Samsung Electronics is investigating reports that a Galaxy S III smartphones exploded in a person's car in Ireland.
Explosions in cars are treated somewhat seriously in Ireland and this one went off when mounted on a car's dashboard.
A Dublin-based individual posted comments and photos on the Boards Forum . He claimed that while he was driving, "suddenly a white flame, sparks and a bang came out of the phone."
He said that he was not sure if it was anything to do with the phone as it might have been caused by a combination of my car mount and my car's heating system."

There is even a discussion going on at the OP forum, search the net and you'd have it
Anyway, I came across another article earlier stating the Samsung has found the cause of the "explosion" .... that was a chain reaction resulting from the fact that the user had tried to dry his Galaxy S3 in a microwave oven .... ( http://www.mobiflip.de/samsung-galaxy-s3-mikrowelle-erzeugte-verbranntes-geraet/ )
Of course the article further mentioned that Samsung is looking to verify this via another 3rd party

we'll keep an eye on this development
cheers ...
