Default Username - Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Hi,
I purchase a new notebook pc and transfered the hdd from old to new notebook pc. what I did before transfering the hdd is sysprep.
- from old notebook. cmd > %windir%/system32/sysprep/sysprep.exe
- then move the hdd to new notebook, then windows ask for new username, so I typed temp, system setup the windows, installed the drivers, etc.

But when I install new applications, the default username detected was "temp" I has to rename it to my real name then proceed. though, I already deleted the temporary username "temp" I created.

Is there a way to set the default username to my real username and not "temp" ?

Thanks!

You should be able to go into User Accounts and select the "change your account name" option.

Sorry for misunderstanding. the temp user doesnt exist on the system as I already deleted it.

Scenario.
1. from old notebook. cmd > %windir%/system32/sysprep/sysprep.exe (using my username sgadmin)
2. then move the hdd to new notebook, then windows ask for new username, so I typed "temp" as new user.
3. After system configure new hardware, I have now two usernames sgadmin and temp.
4. what I did was delete the temp username as I just use it for the system to continue.

However, whenever I installing new software, the default username is temp, even though I already deleted it from the system.

Is there a way to fix this?

Try this ... open regedit ...

. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
. what does it say on the "DefaultUserName" value in the directory details window?
. you should able to edit or create new (REG_SZ) to whatever you want
. reboot

cheers ...

Since I am using 64bit, the DefaultUserName is at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
I tried putting my username as a value, but no avail, still appearing my default user name is the temp . sad.gif

Do a search on all "defaultUserName" in the registry and see how many you get
