Bios SATA AHCI Vs IDE Post reinstall of XP- Cannot boot with AHCI

Thread Starter

HI, After much effort I managed to reinstall XP from scrtatch - (All references and recovery partitions deleted in ACER) . But did this with the BIOS  having the SATA HDD set to IDE mode instead of ACHI. The system boots to XP  and all working

How can I ?

and

Iis it importatnt / benefit ?

To get the AHCI mode working- I assume a driver is required but not sure how to integrate this now the XP OS is up and running.

ACER Aspire One D255 2BQkk model

There are many guides on the net to assist in "enable AHCI in Windows XP after installation".

It's along winded instruction, and my personal take is that it is not worth doing it if you are using XP.

cheers ...
