Win7 fresh install on Timeline Ultra M5 (hdd+ssd)

Hello,

I just bought myself TImelineU M5 with 500GB hdd + 20GB ssd.

I wanted to do clean install of Win7 Ultimate since I didnt like the Home version they provided pre-installed.

So as always I deleted old partitions, formatted some smaller part of 500GB disk for OS and installed the system. Everything else was left unallocated except 100MB System reserved partition which was automatically created on this 500GB disk.

Everything was ok, until finalising of installation. It rebooted and since then it keeps rebooting and I cant get into the system.

Is there any specific way how to install clean system on laptop with hybrid disk?

I can see both disks in BIOS, but i am just unable to boot the windows.

Thanks

. How many partitions are you ending up with?
. How is the BIOS set up to boot from Windows? SSD? HDD?

It would be just simpler and safer to upgrade Windows Home to Windows Ultimate, providing that you are using the same 32 or 64bit

Well I got 2 disks.

Disk 0 is the ssd one: 18.6GB
Disk 1 is the hdd one: 467GB

I created 50gb part on Disk1 for OS. And installed it there. Everything else is left unallocated. My final no. of partitions should be 2: os and data

Also after install it asks dor cd key, pc name, date and time. Then it prepares pc for first use and then i get error in login process. And it starts restarting.

Booting from hdd500gb

Are you able to get into Safe Mode?

- If yes, try running SFC -SCANNOW from the command line in Safe Mode
- If no, try rebooting the comp with the installation disk and see if you can run a system repair from there

Now try and see if you can use the upgrade option via system properties to install the Ultimate version.

nope cant upgrade, it says i can only go Back and do the installation...

im thinking maybe something is still on the drives preventing it to install other than original edition... I saw somewhere on web, that guy used Ubuntu installation to completely clean the disk and formatted and after that it helped... but im tired of this.. will have to try tomorro..

what I can do now is only reinstall the system again from the windows and try if that works

Yep - that is what I am afraid of. My recommendation is NOT to wipe out the drive, but get yourself another one and start it fresh - keep the factory one as a good backup.

Go take a nice walk, clearing out your head smile.gif
