Hello, First I would like to apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask for advice on buying a lenovo, but being an avid lenovo user I was hoping that someone would be able to relate to me and give me some advice. To put it into context, I had a lenovo t61 that I purchased around 2009 with the following specs from what i can recall:
2.8 ghz dual core processor (t8300 I think?)
120gb 7200rpm hard drive
nvidia quadro nvs 140m
About a week ago I confirmed that the motherboard was fried, and it will cost around 250$ to replace, which in my mind isn't really worth it.
I need to get a new lenovo, and I'll be using it expressly for real time music production, recording, and mastering with Ableton Live.
The setup that I had before, while adequate, wasn't really able to process things in real time in a recording environment. Without getting too deep into it, i have a presonus audiobox usb interface that runs instruments through the program and out to speakers, and there has always been a slight delay (latency) that I've tried everything to circumvent....in the end I think comes down to the fact that my laptop was not powerful enough to process it all in real time.
I've been looking at the W series laptops on lenovo's site, which would obviously be ideal but are a little out of my price range. From what I can see, they seem to have more display and graphics upgrades, when all I think that I really need is a fast processor and fast hard drive, and probably a dedicated video card.
So my question is...would I be better off going with one of the T series laptops, or in the long run would the W series be the better purchase?
Again I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post, thank you if you've read through this and can offer me any advice.
