Dell 6mo old n5050 Laptop -- Spilled Iced Tea on Keyboard!!!!!

Hi there,

I hope this is the appropriate place to place this question.

Last night, I spilled a cup of iced tea on my n5050 (it was like a 600$ laptop or something, may have been cheaper)...

I of course let it sit out over night, disconnected battery, etc...

The laptop can power up fine, the only thing that doesn't work is SOME of the keys on the keyboard.  A few select keys still work, however, most of them don't.

What would the solution be here?  Just to buy a new keyboard? http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-N4110-Laptop-Keyboard/dp/B0084NR7YM/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1342313192&sr=8-15&keywords=n5050+keyboard

I am assuming this is what would be recomended, but I just wanted to confirm.

Also, just FYI, I hooked up a USB keyboard up to the laptop, and everything works fine, I ran through a bunch of stuff and everything seems to be working okay as of now.  I dont think the liquid made it internally past the keyboard...

Thanks for your help!

Hope to hear from someone soon!

Note:  Yes, I did search the forums, however, no one case is exactly the same as any of the threads that I saw using the search feature.  People word their threads differently, call something different then I may call it, etc... So, please do not give me the "THIS HAS BEEN ANSWERED 14 TIMES THIS WEEK" speech.  I am not a moron, I know how to utilize the search function! THANKS :D... Not trying to be an ass, just saying, I've heard it before lol

Hi Carter79840,

My name is Deepa and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Please do a flee power of your system. These are the following steps:-
>Remove the battery
>Unplug the ac adaptor
>Press and hold the power button for 10-20 seconds
>Put in the battery
>Plug in the ac adaptor
>Turn on the laptop
Please check if the keyboard LEDs are flashing or not. If they are not flashing at all and there is no light anywhere but still the charger has a green light, that might be an issue with the motherboard. You might need to replace the motherboard. I would also like you to check if your system has the optional warranty called complete care (that covers accidental damage or liquid spillage) alongwith the default hardware warranty. You may find it in the invoice of your system or you can refer to this website:-
>Go to www.support.dell.com > click on home users > on left-hand side click on warranty status > enter your system service tag > you will get the details of your system's warranty.

For further assistance please reply

Thanks and Regards
