Are you looking for drivers or do you want to re-install Windows? If you're looking to re-install Windows, just borrow someone's Windows disc and use the activation key on the bottom of the computer when the installation asks for it. If you need the drivers, go to hp.com, select support, type in the model number for your computer, select the version of Windows you're using, and download whatever you need.

If you go the borrowing route as stated above, make sure its the exact same version of windows that is on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop ie: You cant use a copy of Windows Vista Home Premium when your sticker says Windows HOme Basic or a 64Bit version if you had a 32 bit version...if you try to use something else, you Key# on one of the stickers on the bottom of the laptop will not work..Then as mentioned, you will have to go to the HP website and download all the required drivers for that particular model...Like I said before, sending away for a recovery disk is less hassle.the reason I suggested that route was because you didnt sound like you had that much experience with laptops..OR, if you have a buddy with the EXACT same HP model laptop and they have a recovery disk. then use that

Saugen has his head on right. Buying the recovery discs is very possibly the EASIEST route to getting the system back to factory spec.

If going the borrowing route, you MAY have some success going between 64-bit and 32-bit with the product keys (I was able to use a product key that came with a 32-bit version of Win7 Pro for a 64-bit install without hassle), but in general yes you need to be sure you're installing exactly what it says on the bottom of your laptop on the product key sticker.

Just throwing my two-cents in and lending support to the viewpoints already stated.
